A monroe is no more harmful than it appears. You are causing slight tissue damage and there is a risk of infection if not properly cared for. However, in all reality if you can care for it properly there is no harm and after it's fully healed you can easily take it out and it will go pretty much unnoticed. Absolutely not! It is very harmless. If you take very good care of it, clean it often and don't touch it often or play with it your fine. The smaller the gauge the less noticeable the scar will be. 16g is probably the best one to stick with because there easier to find then 18g.but if you want to risk it a little go for an 18g any smaller then that and you will run the risk of having it ripped out. It's a great piercing and it's very fast healing 4-8 weeks but with some people they find it heals in 3 weeks or less! You should defiantly get it.
