Nightwing (Dick Grayson) is a person who was once Robin. Nightwing was the first Robin, Dick Grayson. When he became Nightwing, the spot of Robin was taken over by Tim Drake. Therefore, Nightwing and Robin are the same people.

Yes and No. Robin becomes Nightwing later on. He then chooses to become the Batman after Wayne, the original, dies. Robin never seems to have the intention of becoming the Batman, but it seems as if Batman doesn't care as long as Gotham is protected. In another scenario, Nightwing serves as a disguise for Superman on the planet Krypton. A nightwing is a kryptonian bird.
