With over 60 million copies of the original manga sold, Hunter x Hunter has been green-lit for its very first animated movie. The original manga was adapted into two anime television series and three subsequent original video animations (OVAs).
There's been speculations surrounding a movie production for quite a while, and now it's been officially announced that the movie will have a completely original story and will hit the theatres in Japan on January 12, 2013.The title of the movie is called "Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge", and the Phantom Troupe characters will make an appearance in the movie. More concrete details about the movie will be revealed in next week's issue of Weekly Shonen Jump(issue 34), on sale July 23.
