There are a few reasons. Fewer Australians served then Americans in the war. The tactics used were also different, and these can be seen today in Iraq and Afghanistan were the Australian sectors are far safer- this is more to do with the culture of the Australian military who enters a region and associate themselves with the locals, becoming almost part of the society, and thus more likely to be warned of insurgent trouble. The Australians also fight differently, moving stealthily in smaller numbers through an area, making them harder to ambush. An American armoured column can be spotted for miles and be ambushed far more easily than a small squad or a a pair of armoured trucks like those the Australians use. These factors were all present in Vietnam, plus the Australians had the impressive Chieftain Tank, which was all but impervious to anything the North Vietnamese had. These tanks on more than one occasion helped save Australian units under fire. Lastly man Aussies were trained in jungle warfare and tactics.
It is a parlimentary bicameral democracy
parliamentary democracy
Democracy is very rare on the continents of Africa and Asia (between these continents, you have over 100 countries and roughly a dozen are democracies). Democracy is present in Latin America in name, but in many cases, there is an extraordinary level of corruption, which derails the democracy. Democracy is only really present in Europe, North America, and Australia/Oceania.
At present, there is no queen of Egypt. Egypt is a democracy.
It has been around for about a century, but the present "blue ensign" has only been the official Australian flag since 1954. In World War I Australian soldiers were usually placed in units under British command, so they fought under the Union Jack. In World War 2 there were three flags around -- the blue ensign, the red ensign, and a white ensign (on which the stars were coloured blue). Most Australians fought under the red ensign, a flag like the present flag, but with a red background for the stars instead of a blue.
There are many famous Australian boxers past and present. Some of these include Anthony Little, Anthony Mundine, Barry Michael, as well as Billy Dib.
