I would recommend the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud.
The books in the series are:
* The Amulet of Samarkand * The Golem's Eye * Ptolemy's Gate There is also Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, and the Septimus Heap (Magyk) series by Angie Sage. They are intended for a bit of a younger age group than the others mentioned, but they are good for a fun light read.
Two other excellent books, that are not part of a series, are Buried Fire by Jonathan Stroud, and Stardust by Neil Gaiman.
I would recommend :
- Bartimaeus Trilogy (Some good humor you will find there, combined with magic, demon, and stuff...)
- Eragon (If you can endure long reading, it's full of nature imagination, good one...)
- Twilight (Well, if you like love story. It's a good one, combined with vampires...)
- Percy Jackson (This one as good as Artemis Fowl. Unpredicted events, yet so familiar with greek mythology...humor too.)
- Black Magician Trilogy (This one if you like surprising plots. Almost like Harry Potter though, with academy, etc...)
That's all. I don't know, but maybe Maximum Ride, Septimus Heap, Inkheart, and Alchemist will be a good one too...I haven't read it yet...oh, And Temeraire...
Right now, if you want to stick with Artemis Fowl (Because I am too...Artemis Fowl too realistic, with humor and intelligent...and a little romance, sort of.), I suggest you pay a visit in www.fanfiction.net, in there find story Artemis Fowl : Aztec Incidents and Artemis Fowl : Sword of God, stories written by AgiVega. A fantastic fanfiction, almost like the real Artemis Fowl...

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is 6.0. 100 Most Dangerous Things on the Planet is reading level 6.2. Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex is reading level 6.2.
There are many different opinions on this question. Many people believe harry potter while others beleive Artemis Fowl. Artemis fowl could win because of his amazing intellect but harry potter has magic. If the had allies Artemis fowl would win because of fairy technology and Butler but in a 1 on 1 with not much time to plan it depends what you are allowed. It also depends when each of them battles. When Artemis is grown up and harry potter is or when they are both young.
The 39 Clues
That is a tough question. Because although Harry Potter has the magic Artemis Fowl has the brains.
