Snape WAS a Death Eater, but he became a double agent for the Order of the Phoenix when he came to Dumbledore to beg him to protect Lilly.

∙ 12y agoYes, he is a Death Eater. He was given the task to kill Dumbledore but Snape did it cause he Unbreakable Vow. He has the dark mark branded on to his left for arm on the summer before their sixth year.

Snape told Voldemort he was a Death Eater spying on the Order. In reality, he was an Order member spying on the Death Eaters and only telling Voldemort selective information.

Yes. Severus Snape did die because Voldermort thought he was the owner of the elder wand and for it to work properly he had to kill him.
