Not an original cast member. Rudolf was created by an artist for the Montgomery Ward mail-order catalog- their Christmas issue of l939. In the Clement Moore poem, there is only reference to eight tiny reindeer- if you follow this line Santa Claus has shape-altering powers as well as those of flight. the miniaturization of Santa- and all his payload- does push the imagination a bit too far, and is generally NOT part of the modern Santa Mythology- but Rudolph- since l939 indeed the leader of the pack.
No Dancer Is The Original Reindeer.
Rudolf "he Red Nosed Reindeer"
His father varies depending on the book, movie, or show. In the popular Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer Movie that sponsors UNICEF, Rudolf's father is Blitzen.
There is another claymation Christmas special, but it is about Rudolph's son, Robbie the Reindeer. It was a creation of the BBC.
No. He came from a story that was written in 1939 and featured as a Montgomery Wards promo book for children ( a best seller). Ten years later, it was put to music by the author's brother in law. The song was a hit sung by Gene Autry. In 1964 the song was incorporated as an addition for a TV special "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".
