Actually, she had very little schooling and when she was a child it was not required that a tutor be provided for her education. Her family were performers in the Ziegfeld Follies vaudeville show in NYC. She had two sisters and the three of them were a singing trio. At 12 years old she was cast for the part in Wizard of Oz. The part of the the Glenda the Good Witch was played by the wife of Ziegfeld so that may be why she was given the part as well as having that amazing voice. Shirley Temple was first considered for the part, but Judy got it and it made her career. So, her whole life was on the stage and in movies.
