However, the concept Nicky was dropped; and he simply became Sonic the Hedgehog. This comic also featured a prototype character of Amy Rose. However, this Amy had brown fur and a Mohawk-like hairstyle, and was the girlfriend of Nicky.

It is considered rare with less than 1500 copies estimated to exist. In new condition it commands hundreds of dollars. Roughly the same time in 1991, but most likely a month or two after the mini comic was released, Detective comics #639, Justice League Europe #33 and Superman #62 included a 16 page insert with the same story and art as the mini comic. All of these came before any other sonic comic book including the Archie #1.
