Gideon the cat is from the book, the Adventures of Pinocchio written in the late 1920's and the Disney animated movie Pinocchio released in the 1940's. Gideon and the fox John Worthington Foulfellow are the characters that Pinocchio meets while on the way to school that eventually convince him to join the puppet show run by Stromboli. Gideon and Foulfellow are two of the first villains in Disney animation. Pinocchio followed the successful Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with its central villain, the Queen. Gideon can be seen in the Disney parks for character Autographs and in the parades.
