Terry Wogan has presented the programme since it first aired as a programme in its own right in 1980. (Previously the appeal was just for five minutes at Christmas.) Many celebrities and radio and TV presenters appear on the show and this year a group called Bandaged Together will perform The Beatles All You Need Is Love.
