Is Storm in the X-men black or white?

Storm (Ororo Munroe) is of African and African-American descent. In her first origin story (1975) she was the daughter of N'Dare, a Kenyan princess who had white hair, blue eyes, and limited powers of natural sorcery. N'Dare married African American David Munroe and Ororo was born in Harlem, New York in 1950. N'Dare and David were killed by the British-French attack on Egypt during the Suez crisis of 1956, and Ororo was orphaned. Ororo became a street thief in Cairo and eventually returned to the Serengeti, where she was worshipped as an elemental goddess until located by Professor X.
