Sir Hector makes an agreement with Merlin to ensure that his son, Arthur, is raised with the right values and guidance. Merlin promises to take care of Arthur and help him grow into a capable leader, while Hector agrees to protect Arthur's true identity until the right time comes for him to claim his birthright. There aren't any definite facts because there are multiple stories. Most have that Merlin was a wizard who put a spell on King Uther so that he would look like Igraine's husband, which is how Arthur was born. After Arthur was born Merlin took him away to protect him, so Arthur was secretly raised by Sir Ector. To make sure that one day Arthur would be King, Merlin put the sword in the stone. After Arthur became King Merlin acted as his adviser.
yes but not sure her name. she had 3 daughters: justine tetu stella langevin hectorine langevin =)
Sir Ector was his foster father. No name given for his foster mother in traditional texts.
Sir Ector.
Sir Ector and some think Merlin raised him. Merlin did not raise Arthur. Merlin helped Uther quench his lust for Igraine and therefore conceive Arthur but for a price. Merlin told Uther he would help if Uther consented to give up the child that would be conceived in that union. Uther of course said yes--never mind what Igraine, the mother might feel, but this was a different time from ours! Merlin knew the child--Arthur--was special and assured Uther that the babe would be raised by a man of honor--Ector.
No. Mark was King of Cornwall and Merlin was an enchanter who was beloved by King Arthur. Completely different people. Mark's wife Isolde had an affair with Sir Tristan. As for Merlin sometimes he's said to have fallen for Viviane, the Lady of the Lake, and she trapped him in a cave or tree hollow.
