Charmander should already know Scratch and Growl when you obtain him. He learns Ember at level 7, Smokescreen at level 10 (Handy if you do Mystery Dungeon), Dragon rage at level 16, Scary Face at level 19, Firefang at level 25, Slash at level 28, Flamethrower at level 34 and Firespin at level 37. At level 16, Charmander evolves into a Charmeleon and at level 32 Charmeleon evolves into Charizard.
Note: Charmeleon and Charizard have different moves at different levels when they evolve. This is just the move chart for Charmander.

You can't trade unless you have seen it. You can see it, the person has to have your friend code and you have to have theirs. Then you can go and get a charmanders and others starters from other people

You can not just get given a Charmander egg in black or white. To get on in the game you must trade someone for a Chrmander, Charmeleon or Charizard and then breed it yourself unless they have a Charmander egg and they trade you that instead.
There are two ways to obtain a Charmander in LeafGreen or FireRed. You can either receive it from professor Oak as a starter pokemon, or trade one from another game. Charmanders (or Bulbasaur and Squirtles) cannot be captured wild in ANY game.
