Cyclops is a Marvel Comics character, usually seen within the titles of X-men or subsequent spin-offs. Cyclops' real name is Scott Summers. He is a mutant with the ability to shoot concussive red beams out of his eyes. Because of a brain injury, they are uncontrollable, and he has to wear ruby quartz glasses/visors to control them.
He was orphaned as a child and separated from his younger brother, Alexander, though they would meet each other in later years as mutants. He would also later meet his father again as an adult, finding out that his father, Corsair of the Starjammers, survived and thought his sons dead. Scott's mother is indefinitely dead.
He was one of the original five X-men and has been a member ever since he was fifteen, where he has been the main field leader.
Since X-men #1, he has been infatuated with X-men team member Jean Grey. Their relationship would go through many trials, but he would always come back to her, eventually marrying her in 1994. He was married once before to her clone, going by the name Madelyne Pryor, and since Jean's most recent death, has been in an off-and-on long time relationship with Emma Frost.
In more recent publishing years, he has been a mutant revolutionary, fighting against humans for mutant rights.
