Efreets are ghoulish spirits featured in some fantasy novels, such as some of CS Lewis's "Narnia" books, e.g. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. They actually riginate in Islamic mythology and are spirits known for their strength and cunning. The word may be spelt ifreet, afrit or afreet. In some texts, they're large and winged and found particularly around old ruins. In their application to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, they are essentially servant spirits to the evil White Witch.
