What are opinions of the talent agency a scam?

Definatly not, I went and I met the agent of Top Model Lisa Cant, Pat Collins. This is a real competition. I won 3rd place.

This is a total scam. Please don't fall for this. Hundreds of people attend these every year and get scammed. All they do is try to make you attend a conference for a lot of money. Do a little research, agencies do not make you pay to be seen.

I went to the audition with a friend - they target anyone who looks gullible enough to pay - they don't care about your talent at all. If you really want to get in the business just contact local agents directly. You never need to pay for anything up front.

I do not know about First, but a lot of agencies will only sign with you if you either have previous experience or agree to go into their exorbitantly high cost acting/model schools. On top of that, they want you to pay for your own headshots, shot sometimes with a photographer of their choosing. They will keep a comp card of you in their offices and if they get a customer on the local level and if that customer is looking for someone in your age bracket, you could get a call. Its all very iffy.
