Elizabeth I is remembered for astounding achievements. Defeating the Spanish Armada; great advances in exploration, literacy and the arts came about under her rule; making Church of England Protestant... she literally transformed England into a world power.During her era,famous poets and playwrights emerged such as William Shakespeare,Edmund Spencer,Christopher Marlowe and Sir Walter Raleigh.Her reign also saw significant expansions overseas.Great explorers were Sir Francis Drake,Sir John Hawkins,Sir Humphrey Gilbert and Sir Richard Greenville. Elizabeth also brought peace to the fued between catholics and protestants.She also earned the nickname `virgin queen` this outraged many of the society and she was the first queen to not officially marry and never had sex

• It was a major accomplishment that she ever survived to become Queen of England! Her mother was executed on the charge of Treason, adultery and incest. She was branded a bastard by her father, King Henry VIII. She lost her title of Princess Elizabeth and had to be referred to as Lady Elizabeth!
