Academic wise, Harry is outstanding in Defense Against the Dark Arts, obviously a natural at Quidditch in the first year and is average in most other classes like Charms and Herbology. The main area where Harry struggles in school is definitely Potions, this may be due to Snape being his Professor in most of the years but pulls himself together in the sixth year when Slughorn takes over the job (but it was also due to the fact that he found the Half-Blood Prince's Potion's textbook with all the notes in it).
