What are the advantages of sketching?

Advantages to sketches (versus a colored drawing or more permanent drawing) include:

• the ability to include even more detail
• details show better in a black and white medium
• you can add shading
• you can use a finger to blend areas of shading, creating depth to images
• you can erase and re-draw if you use light lines until satisfied with the outline
• the ability to add other images or background long after the original sketch is completed
• you can use different resolutions (when scanning for computer use )to highlight details
