By not missing information that could be on a test, they will get better grades. By getting good grades they can get in AP classes. If you take AP classes in high school in some districts, you can earn college credits and eliminate you first year in college. So you benefit by having less school if you plan on going to college. And that's how you benefit, so follow rules.
