Depends on the unauthorized absence. It may range from non-judicial punishment (Captain's mast- Article 15) which can mean losing a stripe, losing pay, additional duty, etc. A UA that falls under "Missing Movement" (missed your ship sailing) can have higher penalties, including court martial. Stay missing too long, and you can be dropped from the roles of the service as a deserter- MAJOR legal problems. If a person is UA now, the longer they wait to return, the worse the trouble.
