There are three covenants. Two which God made with Abraham (Genesis ch.15 and Genesis ch.17), and one with Abraham's Israelite descendants in the time of Moses after the Exodus.

The Sacrament was to replace the ordinance of sacrifice, which pointed the saints to the coming sacrifice of the Lord. The Sacrament is to point the saints to His atoning sacrifice. We take upon ourselves his name and partake of the bread and water as symbols of His body and blood, and renew the covenants that we have made with Him.

Covenants are contracts between God and mankind. They are consistent and ever-enlarging beginning from the Noahic Covenant, the Abrahamic Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant (aka Sinai Covenant), the Davidic Coventant, and the capstone or culminating New Covenant. Though men break covenants, God keeps His promises.
They should already be doing so if they are attending to the temple covenants they have made.
