Harry James Potter is famous throughout the Wizarding World for being the only wizard to ever survive The Killing Curse (the incantation is Avada Kedavra). The Killing Curse, one of the three Unforgivable Curses, is only used by the most dark, evil wizards alive. The curse was used on Harry by Lord Voldemort, the darkest wizard to ever live. Voldemort successfully killed Harry's parents, James and Lily, but could not kill Harry. No one knows how he survived the curse that killed so many others, but he somehow triumphed the Dark Lord, which is why Harry is famous. (Sidenote: Professor Albus Dumbledore eventually does figure out how Harry survived, but this is not revealed until the last book.)
Voldemort came to the Potter house on Halloween 1981 and used the Avada Kedavra spell, also known as the killing curse, first on James, then on Lily while she was protecting Harry. Voldemort then used the spell on Harry, but it backfired due to his mother's sacrifice.
The exact number is unsure, but it's more than twenty times.
His own killing curse backfired on him, because he used the elder wand on its own true master, harry potter.

The Killing Curse- Avada Kedavra. He kills them in their house at Godric's Hollow
He used Avada Kedavra, the killing curse because they were preventing him from getting to Harry. He didn't really care if they lived or died, Harry was the threat to him.
SPOILERS: In the last book of the Harry Potter series, Book 7, during the end of the book, Harry Potter kills Voldemort with a single lash of his wand. Harry had used expelliarmus charm and reflected Voldemort's killing curse, which had turned around and killed Voldemort instead of Harry. Want to know how this was possible? Read the book.

Harry Potter does not use Avada Kedavra because he doesn't believe it is right to kill someone. Therefore, Harry always tries to do something else first, only killing someone as a last possible act of self defense. Even when Harry defeated Voldemort, he did not use the Avada Kedavra curse. Voldemort's own curse rebounded when he tried to use it against Harry, and that is the curse that killed him.
Digitalis is not a spell in Harry Potter.
