Zeus (Jupiter)- Lord of the Sky, the Rain-God and the Cloud-gatherer. His power was greater than that of all the other divinities together. He is represented as falling in love with one woman after another and descending to all the matter of tricks to hide his infidelity from his wife.
Hera (Juno)- Protector of marriage, and married women were her peculiar care. She was the goddess married women turned to for help. She was also Zeus' wife and sister. She punished all the women that Zeus fell in love with. Her implacable anger followed them and their children too. She never forgot an injury. The Trojan War would have ended in an honorable peace, leaving both sides unconquered, if it had not been for her hatred of a Trojan who had judged another goddess lovelier than she. The wronged of her slighted beauty remained with her until the Troy fell in ruins.
Poseidon (Neptune)- Ruler of the sea. He was also Zeus' brother. His wife was Amphitrite, granddaughter of a titan. He gave the first horse to man. When he drove his golden car over the waters, the thunder of the waves sand into stillness, and tranquil peace followed his smooth-rolling wheels. Commonly called the "Earth Shaker" and always carried his three-pronged spear. He also had some connections with bulls.
Pallas Athena (Minerva)- Daughter of Zeus alone. No mother bore her. Full grown and full in armor, she sprang from his head. She is a fierce and ruthless battle goddess, but elsewhere she is warlike only to defend the State and the home from outside enemies. Inventor of bridle. She was Zeus' favorite child and he trusted her to carry his thunderbolt. Athens was her favorite city.
Typhon the father of monsters and the weak little Ophiratorus which if you sacrifice it you'll be able to crush the gods.
Anthropomorphism is the hallmark of the Greek conception of the Olympians.
he only made the olympians
The Titans are the children of Gaea and Ouranos. They ruled before the Olympians did. They lived on Mount Othrys. The Olympians are some of the children of the Titans and some of the children of Zeus. The twelve Olympians are Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Apollo, Artemis, Athena, Hermes, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Ares and Dionysus. They live on Mount Olympus. The Titans ruled the Cosmos before Man was created (since Man was a creation of Zeus through Prometheus). They represented the broader and more wild aspects of nature. For example, Okeanos and Tethys represented the world ocean and the dangers of the seas. Hyperion and Theia represented shining light. Etc. The transition from the Titans to the Olympians in a cultural sense reflects the influence that expanding contact with the Near East had on ancient Greece.
The twelve Olympians are the twelve greek gods. Goddesses (females)-- Aphrodite, goddess of love, Hera, goddess of marriage, Hestia, goddess of hearth and home, Demeter, goddess of the harvest, Athena, goddess of wisdom and war, and Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Gods (males)-- Zeus, god of the sky, Poseidon, god of the ocean and earthquakes (he is my favorite), Hades, god of the underworld, Hephaestus, the god of the forges and fire, Ares, god of war, Apollo, god of the sun, poetry, and archery, Hermes, god of messeges, and Dionysus, the god of wine and parties.
Mythologically speaking, Olympians were the descendants of Titans. Gods of Olympians were the next generation. Like Zeus's father, Kronos. And Apollo, Artemis mother, Leto, a Titanesse, through Zeus, and so on. Most of the Olympians were Zeus's son or daughter. Except Aphrodite (Piece of Ouranous which fell to sea), Hephaestus (Hera alone), Demeter & Hestia (Zeus's Sister).
The Twelve Olympians were the gods who lived on Mount Olympus. The Twelve Olympians were Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo, Demeter, Artemis, Hades, Hephaestus, Hermes, Aphrodite and Ares.
