So. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone, Harry is taken into London by Hagrid, so it's somewhere in London. Then, he takes him to the Leaky Cauldron and leads him out after lots of people show that they love him. They get to a brick wall and Hagrid taps it with his umbrella and it opens into diagon ally.
