It was actually really light red-colored since she was born, to probably about when she was about 27 or 28. It then became really dark red curly hair that she held up with a couple of pins. This is true, she was quite literally bald when she got old. It was mainly because of her makeup, but now we're off-topic. She used wigs that were a little darker than her normal hair color, but then again she died bald.
I believe she started out with auburn hair when she was young, but now I think she's pretty well all grey.
