On the other side of the fence there are wild dogs, and other predators. So basically bears and other dangerous animals that could kill anyone who goes across the gate. Another threat that Katniss and Gale are more worried about is that crossing the gate is a crime that is punishable by death. Sources: The Hunger Games

∙ 12y agoWell in the first book Katness pulls out Berry's in the anera and said she would kill herself so they have no victor and the capital took that as an insult ( or a re bellies streak) and now precedent snow wants to kill her because now people want to cause an uprising (or overthrow) the capital so now its kinda like the capital is her new enemy
