replied that he saw himself holding a pair of thick, woollen socks and said to Harry "one can never have enough socks." This is a lie because the truth was very personal and Albus

didn't feel it necessary at the time to tell Harry. The truth was that Dumbledore

would have seen his whole family together without pain. Dumbledore

felt guilty because he tore his family apart for the 'greater good'. Harry doesn't

know this until later on in the series.
