What did Cedric Diggory do to get pass the dragon in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?

He transformed a rock into a Labrador in the dragon's nest in order to distract it. It didn't work for long but he managed to get the egg before the dragon burned part of Cedric's face. Cedric only just managed to get away from the dragon.
In November 24, 1994, during the First Task of the 1994-95 Triwizard Tournament, Cedric Diggory had to retrieve a Golden Egg from a female Swedish Short-Snout.
To accomplish this, Cedric Diggory used his wand to Transfigure a rock into a Labrador (a breed of dog) so that the Labrador could distract the dragon. However, as Cedric retrieved the egg, the dragon lost interest in the Labrador and turned back to him. She breathed fire and burned the side of Cedric's face, for which Cedric was taken points off.

∙ 11y agoCedric Diggory was a member in the Hufflepuff House. He was in the Tri-Wizard Tournament with Harry but died after being killed by Wormtail because Voldemort told him to.
