Buck learned what the law of the club was when he was stolen and put and a train headed to Alaska. In this train there was a man in a red sweater( the book never mentions his name) he struck Buck with the club when buck lunged toward him to attack. The man beat him across his face. This is when Buck quickly learned that man with a club is master. Buck was soon sold to Francois, and Perrault. Buck quickly made friends with another dog named Curly. Curly (being a rookie) began trying to meet other dogs. Curly approached a dog named Spitz, Spitz attacks her without warning, tearing a gash in her face. When the other dogs saw her weakness they attacked her,and killing her. Buck learned that the law of the fang was if you are weak and cannot fulfill your duties you are useless and must then die.
Because both wanted to be leader. It's a fight for leadership.
People can learn that to be more careful or people can learn that you can't get attention from it either.
Fighting for fighting's sake leads to tragedy.
