They represent different kinds of spell cards.
A lightning bolt-shaped symbol means the card is Quickplay, it is spell speed 2 and can be chained to other activations. If it has been Set on the field for a turn, then it can be activated in the opponent's turn too.
A plus-shaped symbol means it is an Equip card. These are equipped to one face-up monster on the field and provide an effect, usually an ATK boost.
A sideways '8' infinity symbol means the card is Continuous. They remain on the field after the resolve.
A star-shaped symbol means it is a Field Spell Card. Only one can be active at a time, if a new one is activated, the old one is destroyed.
A flame-shaped symbol is a Ritual Spell card. These allow you to Ritual Summon a monster.
Finally one without any of these is a Normal spell card, these go to the graveyard after resolution as normal.

Assuming you don't mean the Japanese original game, then the answer is technically nothing. As the anime changes, the packs have been updated to say GX and 5D's, to show those characters and base the cards around them. But the game itself is the same. A card printed in the first set is exactly the same as cards printed in the latest set. Although you can now summon tuner monsters in 5D's. Something you could not prieviously execute
In general it means all effects, be it the resolving effect of a spell, trap or monster, or the reusable effect of a continuous spell or trap.
its fake
Read The Effect Of The Card... It'll usually say what the question mark is for... For instance, The Calculator... If it doesn't have an effect.. It's probably fake...

quality'1st edition' is printed on the first 'batch' of that particular product to be printed. Some people value them a little more highly than Unlimited prints of those same cards, but otherwise it doesn't really 'mean' anything.
