Know one really knows unfortunately. Various stones, like amber, hyacinth, opal and tourmaline have been said to be identical to the leshem stone. However, this cannot be substantiated. So far, there has been no text verifying the color of the actual stone in question. All we know for sure, is that it is an unidentified precious stone, which was placed first in the third row of gems on the high priest's "breastpiece of judgment," in the time of ancient Israel.
