Godzilla is just a translation from Gojira(Godzilla in Japanese).There is a rumor though that the guy who thought "Gojira"up (when I use Gojira throught this,the quotation marks will mean that I'm refering to the movie Gojira) was nicknamed Gojira, a cross beatween Gorilla (gorira) and a whale (kujira) and crossed them, and he loved the nickname, and named the monster that. A crue member who helped maked the film remembers people rallying names for the monster.

∙ 12y agohe got it from the Japanese words go and jira. go means gorrilla and jira means whale. basically gojira(godzilla to the Americans) is as ferocious as an angry gorilla and as big as a whale.
