Artemis Fowl
Cudgeon is the power-hungry Briar Cudgeon. Former Commander Root's best friend, Cudgeon turned evil and sycotic when betrayed by the LEP and the Council. In the second book he teamed up with Opal Koboi to attempt to take over the fairy world using The B'wall Kell (possible misspellation) but died when he fell into an active plasma chute. Ouch.
There is Commander Julius Root (Books 1-4), Acting Commander Briar Cudgeon (Book 1) and Commander Ark Sool (Book 5).
