Not easy to track down, but a response received on Feb 1, 2013 from
Oscar Nolan & Glen Cheda (who ought to know) reads:
"Thank you for your interest in Edmund Kara's work.
The sculpture for the movie "The Sandpiper" returned for a short while to the artist in Big Sur where it was sculpted. In a disagreement with the studio, it was cut apart by Mr. Kara, with torso and head returned to the studio. The writer and producer of the film, Martin Ransohoff, later donated these two pieces of the sculpture to his almamater, Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. I understand they were shown at the University's Picker Art Gallery last Spring. The gallery is closed for renovations this semester.
Best,
Glen"

There is not an autobiography for the Statue of Liberty, but there is a book that discusses its history. Liberty's Touch by Elizabeth Mitchell explores the Statute of Liberty's history.
Yes- Taylor's tomb in Louisville has a 50-ft. tall granite tower, topped with a life-size statue of him.

It was destroyed by fire in the 5th century.
Nobody is really sure what happened to the statue, some say it was carried off to Constantinople, where it was destroyed in a fire in 475AD. Others say it was destroyed when the temple in which it sat was destroyed in 425AD.
