What happens in the third Harry Potter book?

When Harry Potter's name emerges from the Goblet of Fire, he becomes a competitor in a grueling battle for glory among three wizarding schools-the Triwizard Tournament. Harry finds out that a man, Sirius Black, has escaped from the wizard prison, Azkaban. He was accused of and imprisoned for attempting to kill Peter Pettigrew, a wizard, and killed 12 muggles. Harry is warned that this man might be after him specifically, since he was one of Voldemort's followers. Harry also soon finds out that Sirius Black was his godfather and betrayed his family to Voldemort. Then, in the shrieking shack, Sirius Black and a Hogwarts professor/ closet werewolf, Remus Lupin, explain what actually happened. Which was that Peter Pettigrew was actually one of Voldemort's followers and was the one who betrayed Harry's parents to Voldemort. Sirius did go after Pettigrew to kill him, but when Black caught up to Pettigrew, Pettigrew cut off his own finger, transformed into his animagus form (a rat) and blew up the place, killing 12 muggles. Since Pettigrew had left his finger behind and escaped as a rat, Sirius was blamed for the murder of Pettigrew and the 12 muggles. It is then revealed that Ron's pet rat, 'Scabbers', is actually Peter Pettigrew, in his animagus form. They capture Pettigrew, who then escapes amongst the commotion of Remus Lupin transforming into a werewolf. The dementors catch up to Harry and Sirius, but the dementors are then thwarted by a mysterious figure who Harry mistakes as his dead father, somehow come back from death. Dumbledore then instructs Harry and Hermione on how to save Sirius from reimprisonment. They use something Hermione had been using all year called a timeturner. They use it to go back and rescue Sirius and set him free. It is then found out that Harry was the one who thwarted the dementors, it was the Harry that had come back from the future to save Sirius Black. That's pretty much what happens in the third one. Sorry if it was a bit confusing. I'll write down a guide of which character is below.

Voldemort: the villain throughout the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter defeated his rein for about 15 years when he was just a baby, there is a constant overhanging cloud throughout the series that he will return to power

Remus Lupin: a Hogwarts professor, some could say Harry's favourite teacher, remains friends with Harry throughout the series, childhood friends with James (Harry's father), Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew

Peter Pettigrew: childhood friends with Sirius Black, James Potter, and Remus Lupin, thought to be dead for 12 years, animagus (can transform into a rat at will), the one who actually sold out the Potters to Voldemort, responsible for the death of the 12 muggles

Dumbledore: headmaster of Hogwarts, in many ways Harry's mentor, very wise
