Warning, spoilers:

He dies of a fever on Captain Robert Walton's boat in the north after hunting his creation for years (because the creation killed all his family) and ending up on Walton's boat. His creation then sees what he has done and says he will kill himself out of sorrow. As the creation jumps off the boat into the storm the story ends.
