We all know that Bilbo had no use or interest for the treasure at all. He got coaxed into going along on this adventure but really he would have rather stayed in his hobbit hole and went about is usual business. Even when he is coming up with a plan to get into the mountain he is wishing he were at home where he was safe and had plenty of food and water. Before the journey even started he was in it as a business deal and he really did not care about his fourteenth share.
