Cynthia's team in Diamond and Pearl is weak to the following:
Her Spiritomb is weak to nothing due to its ghost and dark type.
Her Gastrodon is weak to mainly grass and flying type attacks.
Her Roserade is weak to mainly fire, ice, flying and Psychic attacks.
Her Lucario is weak to mainly fire and Fighting attacks.

In Platinum, her team is pretty much identical except she changes her Gastrodon with a Togekiss. Her Togekiss is weak to mainly ice and Electric attacks and she also has a Garchomp on her party and Garchomp is weak against ice and dragon types and make sure your Pokémon are at a High Level level than her Pokémon or it'll be a tough fight and be careful since her Garrchomp knows Earthquake (which can be avoided if a Flying type out) and her Milotic knows Mirror Coat which counters a Special Attack move and does double the damage.

So you should have a starter, a pokemon who's type is weak to your starter, a pokemon who's type is strong agenst your starter, a Suring pokemon, a flying pokemon, and a Legendary. if your at the begining, getting a shromish and evolving it will be useful later on.
