But since Voldemort did not know this little piece of information. He stole the wand from Dumbledores tomb at Hogwarts. At this point he thought that taking it from the grave made him the possessor of the wand. Not much later he realized that the elder wand worked great but not like the powers it promised. It worked like his own wand, this is when he came up with the idea that Snape was the owner. He then killed Snape now thinking that he had possession. Now the thing that surprises many is that the new possessor was chosen before Dumbledores death. Seconds, minutes really. In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Draco Malfoy had used a disarming spell against Dumbledore. The wand had chosen a new possessor that moment. A possessor that had never landed a finger on the wand. Draco Malfoy was the true master of the Elder wand. Going back to the Deathly Hallows. In the Malfoys Manor harry had stolen Malfoys wand. And there it is Harry is the new possessor of the wand.
