What is the Stereotypical Aussie?

We don't wear cork hats and most of us don't live in the outback at all. Most of our accents aren't even that strong and we don't use slang ALL THE TIME! Only every now and then. Our main influence is actually America. We mostly live in the city. There are two main stereotypes of us aussies. 1. The Outback Aussie (farmer) 2. The Beachie (surfie, etc..) The Outback Aussies stereotype of checkered shirts and jeans on a farm with dry desert outback and kangaroos all around only applies to either farmers or people who live inland. However, most of us live on the coast in the main cities. (Sydney and Brisie [Brisbane]) People also live in Canberra a lot but gets really cold there. But most commonly aussies are beachies. (If you haven't already noticed, we also put 'ie' on the end of heaps of words. e.g. beachie, brisie, surfie) We enjoy going to the beach all the time and getting a nice tan. Most of us know how to surf. Although, I don't. Girls are known for wearing bikinis with mini denim shorts at the beach and guys just wearing boardies. (Again with the 'ie'.) We do enjoy a good BBQ BUT WE DO NOT CALL THEM "SHRIMPS ON THE BARBIE!" 1. We call them prawns NOT shrimps. 2. Not many people BBQ prawns. But yes, some people call it a Barbie. But I only call it a BBQ. HOWEVER, Australia is extremely multicultural. Bankstown is a very popular place known for there being lots of people like Greeks and Lebanese etc. there. For our personality, we DO use sarcasm A LOT!! And although it sounds silly, we do insult our friends (mates) as a joke. e.g. "You're such an idiot" (or something similar. it can even be explicits ) And the your friend would just laugh or even admit to it. We joke around a lot. HOPE MY INFO HELPS! From, an aussie!
