There is no urban legend of the Candyman. The Candyman is a fictional character/monster from Clive Barker's short story, "The Forbidden."

However, the movie Candyman (1992) incorporates an aspect of the Bloody Mary legend, namely, that saying his name five times into the mirror makes him appear.

A woman is conducting research about urban legends and learns of the towns local legend known as Candyman; summoned by anyone who looks in a mirror and chants his name five times, throughout the film various people including the woman call his name and apart from her they all die in gruesome ways.

In the sequel it is revealed that the Candyman was called Daniel Robitaille and was the son of a slave, they owners of the plantation where his family were kept picked him to paint a portrait of his daughter Caroline and they ended up having a love affair which resulted in Caroline becoming pregnant. When the father finds out him and a lynch mob torture Daniel, cutting off his right hand and smearing honey on the wound a little boy tastes the honey and starts chanting "Candy man" , bees swarm over Daniel as the crowd watches and just before he dies his gasps candyman.
