"Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville has lost one! [Turns to the side] Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see then….[reacts to Ron's crappy spell]…Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it? I've tried a few simple spells myself and they've all worked for me! For example: Oculus Reparo. That's better isn't it? Holy cricket! You're Harry Potter! I'm Hermione Granger. And you are...? Pleasure. Well, nobody in my family's magic at all, and it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased of course. It's the best school of witchcraft there is, I've heard! You two better get into your robes. I expect we'll be arriving soon. You've dirt on your nose by the way. Just there.

• My favourite is in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, right at the end when Albus Dumbledore is explaining to Harry Potter why he has ignored him throughout the year and also why he has allowed Harry to be more mischievous than many other students (with exception of possibly Fred and George Weasley). Even after Harry has practically destroyed some of Dumbledore's possessions, the interaction between the two in the book is one of the best conversations in that or any Potter book (to my mind).
