Barbara Gordon (Oracle) was one of the original Batgirls. The most recent one is Cassandra Cain, daughter of assassin David Cain and Lady Shiva. Oracle took Cassandra off the streets, gave her a Batgirl costume, and trained her to become the new Batgirl.
