What is butter beer on Harry Potter?

This is not a fictional drink, it was a real drink in Tudor times made from beer (ale is the nearest to beer from those times), egg yolks, sugar, nutmeg and butter.

You can now get it at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - although the recipe is totally different (non-alcoholic)

Ingredients:

1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda

½ cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)

½ tablespoon butter

Directions:

Step 1: Measure butterscotch and butter into a 2 cup (16 oz) glass. Microwave on high for 1 to 1½ minutes, or until syrup is bubbly and butter is completely incorporated.

Step 2: Stir and cool for 30 seconds, then slowly mix in club soda. Mixture will fizz quite a bit.

Step 3: Serve in two coffee mugs or small glasses; a perfectly warm Hogwarts treat for two!

The Rum (or non-rum) version from CDKitchen:

Ingredients:

1 pint vanilla ice cream (softened)

1/2 stick butter (softened)

1/3 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon grated nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1 quart apple cider

Directions:

Cream butter, sugar and spices together. Beat in the vanilla ice cream. Refreeze the mixture. Scoop out the frozen mixture into a glass. Pour hot Apple cider over the ice cream mixture.

Optional: add an ounce of rum for an adult treat.
