O.J. Simpson has certain human failings, such as jealousy, anger, selfishness, egotism, and so forth. Whether these are so severe as to constitute mental illness, is difficult to say. In a certain sense, anyone who commits a serious crime is in some way mentally ill. But we would hardly want to classify all criminals as innocent by reason of insanity. The line has to be drawn, between people who are flawed, and people who are insane. Chances are, Simpson is not actually insane. But I wouldn't invite him over for dinner.
