A Jigglypuff sings without pausing for a breath. If it battles a Pokemon that does not easily fall asleep, it endangers its life. A Ponyta is capable of jumping over the Eiffel Tower in a single giant leap. Its hooves are ten times harder than diamonds. A Drifloon tries stealing children away by pulling and tugging on them, but ends up getting dragged along instead. X-D A Vulpix is born with one tail which splits into six as it grows. Shuppet gathers over houses where vengeful people lives. A Castform can change shape depending on the weather. There are: Sun, Water, and Snow Forms. Crawdaunt picks up and throws Pokemon from its pond with its huge pincers. Plusle cheers on its friend with Minun using pom-poms made out of sparks. Sableye's diet of gems has transformed its eyes into gems. A Slakoth and a Slaking both are slow and lazy. Vigoroth, their evolution and pre-evolution is quite different. Because of its heart rate, it can't sit still for even a moment.

Okay, If you are new to Pokémon, then here is everything you will need to know: (Based on the DS games)

1) When you start out, you will get a starter Pokémon. In Diamond, Pearl & Platinum, those choices are Chimchar; Fire Type, Piplup; Water Type & Turtwig; Grass Type.

2) All Pokémon have types that determine what moves they can learn (EX: Pikachu is an electric type so it can learn electric type moves but also some other move types depending on the Pokémon ) Their types also determine what types it will be weak or strong against. (EX: Piplup is a water type, so it is strong against Chimchar, a fire type. Piplup is weak against Turtwig, a grass type.)

3) Pokémon can gain EXP (Experience) which will level up your Pokémon They earn this EXP from battling trainers and wild Pokémon. The highest level your Pokémon can reach is 100.

4) All Pokémon have HP (Hit Points). This is their health. When battling, your Pokémon will take damage and their HP will go down. When all of their HP is gone, that Pokémon is fainted and unable to battle until you go to a Pokémon Center or heal it with a Revive. You can also heal your Pokémon with potions before all its HP is gone or go to a Pokémon Center. HP has 3 different colors; Green, Yellow and Red. When your Pokémon's HP is Green, it still has a lot of HP left. When it hits yellow, it is at about half. Once its HP hits red, your Pokémon has very low HP and the game will make a beeping noise.

5) Pokéballs are the capture device to catch wild Pokémon. The best way to catch a Pokémon is to lower its HP to yellow or red and then throw a Pokéball. Sometimes, the wild Pokémon will escape from the Pokéball. When that happens, you can lower the HP more or throw another Pokéball. The ultimate and rarest Pokéball is the Master Ball that can catch any Pokémon without failure. (You CAN'T catch other trainer's Pokémon!!! Unless you have an Action Replay to hack and cheat your game, which I don't recommend doing. I have done this before & it really can mess up your game and some cheats will cause Nintendo not to allow you to play games online.) You can have up to 6 Pokémon with you. The rest you can put in the PC Box, which I will get to later. If you want, you can run from a wild Pokémon battle.

6) The goal of the game is to beat all of the Pokémon Gyms and then beat the Elite Four and the Pokémon Champion. There is a Pokémon Gym in almost every town who all raise different types of Pokémon. You should bring Pokémon that the Gym is weak to. After you beat all of the Gyms, you move on to the Elite Four. The Elite Four is a group of 4 Elite Pokémon Trainers that are really strong. You have to beat all 4 without losing to one or else you have to start out all over again. Then after you beat the Elite Four, you will face the Champion of that region. They are one of the strongest trainers in the region. I recommend you take a lot of revives and potions when you face them.

7) You have a Rival that you get to name. He/She will always test your strength whenever you meet. Your Rival picks the opposite Pokémon of you. (EX: If you picked Turtwig, a Grass Type, then your Rival will pick the strongest against Turtwig, Chimchar, a Fire Type.)

8) The Pokémon Center (should've gotten to this earlier) is a free place to get your Pokémon fully healed. When you walk up to the counter, Nurse Joy will take your Pokémon for a few seconds. When she returns them, they will be in full health.

9) Pokémon Trainers are people along your route. If they see you, you will have to battle them. They can have up to 6 Pokémon. You can't run from trainer battles as you can in wild Pokémon Battles.

10) The PC Box is a storage system where you store Pokémon that you don't want in your party Pokémon (The 6 you have with you). You can change the names of the storage boxes, change the wallpaper and arrange your Pokémon any way you like. (All of my Pokémon are arranged by their type.) Also, you can talk with the Professor on your PC so he can check your Pokédex. You can also add seals to your Pokéballs and send mail to your friends. After you beat the Champion, you can check the Pokémon that you fought the Champion with.

11) The Pokédex is a device you get in the beginning of the game. It allows you to register Pokémon you see, battle and catch in it. You can check where a Pokémon lives, what type they are, their cry, and the quick summary of the Pokémon. (Every Summary is different for each version of the game)

12) Seals are little decorations that you can put onto your Pokéballs. When you send out your Pokémon, the seals will make different visual effects of the entrance of your Pokémon. (EX: If I put a fire seal on my Chimchar's Pokéball, then fire will fly out from my Chimchar a pon its entrance to the battle.)

13) Mail is a object which you can give to your Pokémon, and then trade it to your friend who will receive the Pokémon and the mail it is holding. You can write the mail on your PC Box and then give the mail to a Pokémon.

14) Held Items are items in your travel bag. You can give these items to your Pokémon to hold. (EX: If I give my Pikachu an Oran Berry, then it will use it in battle to heal it's self.) CAUTION: If you give your Pokémon a man-made object, such as a potion, it will not know how to use it and it will not heal it's self during battle.

15) Trading is where you can trade your Pokémon with another Trainer's Pokémon. You can either trade locally or globally. Locally is like with your family in the same room or on the bus with your friends. Globally uses Nintendo-Wifi to trade with, lets say, someone in Japan.

Okay, I may have left some things out, but I think I got all the basics covered.

Hope this helps! ;) Have fun playing Pokémon!
