In science fiction, hyperspace is a concept that makes access to faster-than-light speed travel possible.

There are four different mathematics definitions referring to hyperspace.

In physics, it's also referred to as Minkowski space, a concept that refers to the four-dimensional space/time of special relativity.

This is something that was made up by Science Fiction. But, we could go into special and general relativity and then into string theory. The point to all of three of them is that we see three dimensional space. You can be forward-back, left-right or up-down. But the above scientific theories, phenomena and hypotheses are centered around the idea that the three dimensional space that we humans perceive is not the "true" space that we as creatures exist within.

In einsteinian relativity, the extra dimension is time. The phenomenon is that space and time are actually one item called "space-time" that changes together. So we see ourselves as moving "forward in space" but we could be standing still in space and moving "forward in time". Galileo says that this is the exact same thing. But Einstein says that the velocity that we move through space-time determines the "true" effect of that motion in space-time.

So "hyperspace", which can be perceived as this 4th dimension of time that we move through. Of course, we as humans on earth living normal lives would not notice any change. In fact if we moved at relativistic speeds (close to the speed of light) then we would not notice a difference in ourselves, but in comparison to what we would have been, there is a difference.

General relativity deals with the contour of this space-time and string theory combined general relativity with quantum mechanics; yet unsuccessfully to experimental means.

Hyperspace is a term that describes the total number of individual locations and all of their interconnections in a hypertext environment.

Hyperspace is a theoretical layer of space where the laws of Space Time are different. This allows us to imagine a Universe with the possibility of faster than light travel that doesn't break the laws of Currently known Physics.

What is the meaning of hyperspace?

Hyperspace is an area in space that allows for faster than light travel. This type of space is speculated about in science fiction novels, and allows for story lines that would not be possible without the availability of hyperspace.

How is hyperspace defined?

Hyperspace is the theoretical possibility of other dimensions of space than the three observable ones in which we live and move.
