Marcel wax is a specialized hair product used primarily in hairstyling to create texture, definition, and hold. It has a firm yet pliable consistency, allowing for flexibility in styling while providing a strong grip. Typically used for short to medium hairstyles, it helps achieve a polished, controlled look and can be easily reworked throughout the day. Marcel wax is often favored by stylists for its ability to enhance the natural movement of hair while maintaining a clean finish.
Two ways: Heat Marcel stove. 1.) Rub irons liberally with either a heavy pressing oil or a wax such as Dax Bees Wax. Place iron in stove and heat until red hot. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED. Remove, cool a bit and wipe down with white heavy clothe. Careful not to burn yourself. Repeating twice gets the best results this way. 2.) Heat irons until red hot. Cool a bit and CAREFULLY dip or rub liberally with a heavy pressing oil or a wax such as Dax Bees Wax. Remove excess oil or wax. Place iron(s) in marcel stove and reheat until 'red hot'. Remove. Cool and wipe down.
Yes, marcel wax can be used for maintaining dreadlocks, but it's not the best option. While it helps in holding the locks together, it can lead to a buildup of product over time, making the hair feel heavy and potentially causing issues like mold or odor. Many dreadlock enthusiasts recommend using natural alternatives, such as aloe vera gel or specialized dreadlock waxes that are residue-free, to keep the hair healthy and manageable.
